Friends of HOKISA in the USA
After a strong foundation laid by the initial loyal support of Dr. Glenn W. Hawkes of PTSSR (Parents, Teachers and Students for Social Responsibility) and Dr. Susanna Pflaum, both from Vermont, we are delighted that our network has diversified and strengthened further. Thanks so much to each of you!
The following friends are official supporters of HOKISA in the USA – and we invite you to visit their website for further information:
CHABHA – Children affected by HIV/AIDS
Founded by Dr. Susanna Pflaum, one of the HOKISA friends from the very beginning, CHABHA looks into the needs of several places of support for children affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa. Susanna and her husband Joe, both at home in Vermont, have visited all places of support themselves and can judge from own experiences. They also travelled outside South Africa (Namibia and Rwanda) and collected lot’s of personal experiences.
25:40
This new support group for HOKISA was started by former South African Alec Zacaroli and his wife Amy, who set themselves the target to help children affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa. They named their NGO, based in Virginia, after Matthew 25:40: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”
tias-arms (The Arms of the Aunt)
This NGO was started by Joanne Baker, formerly South African and now resident of Los Angeles. As a concerned human rights activist and medical professional, Joanne decided to rally her friends and colleagues in the cause of helping children affected by HIV/AIDS.
