Hokisa 18th Anniversary
An anniversary is a time to celebrate the joys of today, the memories of yesterday, and the hopes of tomorrow. Hokisa turns 18 years of existence, full of ups and downs, lessons, happiness, twist, and turns. Though there have been difficulties and hardships, we are deeply humbled by the amount of support received from all spheres of life.
Hokisa is more than a children`s home: It is a contribution towards building an understanding of HIV and AIDS and its impact on our lives and our communities. All South Africans live with AIDS, whether we are infected or not. HOKISA, in a small way, shows how we can all live and work together while caring for those that are most vulnerable
This year has been a rollercoaster ride, however, people have shown remarkable resilience in coping with the covid -19 pandemic. In light of the recent developments regarding the accelerating covid 19 infection rate/ second wave, we as Hokisa continue to observe and revise our contingency plan that was put in place at the beginning of the pandemic.
The community of Masiphumelele is more vulnerable to Covid-19. Most residents live in close proximity to each other, have no alternative but to continue to use public transport, and have limited access to adequate clean running water and sanitation.
