Dear HOKISA Supporters and Friends,

As we commemorate Freedom Day here in South Africa, we are reminded of the profound significance of this day in our nation’s history. It marks the anniversary of the first democratic elections in 1994—a moment that symbolized hope, dignity, and the promise of a more just and equal society for all.

At HOKISA, Freedom Day carries a deeply personal meaning. Every day, through the care, support, and opportunities we provide to children and young people, we actively contribute to building the kind of future that this day represents. Freedom, for us, is not only about history—it is about ensuring that every child has the chance to grow up in a safe environment, to access education, to discover their potential, and to dream without limitations.

While we celebrate how far South Africa has come, we also acknowledge the ongoing challenges many children and families still face. Inequality, poverty, and limited access to opportunities continue to affect the lives of young people in our communities. This is why our work remains as important as ever.

Thanks to your continued support, encouragement, and generosity, we are able to stand alongside our children as they navigate their journeys toward independence and self-worth. You are an essential part of this story of freedom—helping to create spaces where hope can take root and futures can be reimagined.

On this Freedom Day, we invite you to reflect with us:
What does freedom mean today? And how can each of us continue to contribute to a society where every child is truly free to thrive?

Thank you for walking this journey with us. Your support makes a lasting difference in the lives of the children we serve.

Wishing you a meaningful Freedom Day.

Warm regards,
Phillip
